Acne Facials

Posted by: admin | Comments (5)

Almost everybody cares about their skin. We usually want to keep it looking as fresh and healthy as we can, by protecting it from all sorts of environmental harms. In a sense, our skin is the largest organ in our body. It has a variety of functions. One of the most important among these is the protection it affords against foreign substances. It also serves as a kind of transfer point to get rid of toxins from within our body. For all of these reasons, it is important to take very good care of our skin.

Acne is a common, and serious, skin problem that is seen in people of all ages and ethnic groups, and can affect both men and women. As cases of people with acne become more numerous, a few companies have began to develop special acne facials for people suffering from its effects. These facials are in fact skin treatments that penetrate deep under its surface to clean, hydrate, and rejuvenate, doing more than just minimizing acne blemishes. They are a comprehensive treatment for your face, and are designed to make it healthier overall.

There are now a few acne facials available at health stores. They are also easily available on the Internet. The Internet has become a very popular place to find these sorts of products, in fact. A word of advice though: before you pick a particular variety of acne facial, remember that their efficacy is highly related to what type of skin you have. There are also other things to consider, such as what kind of treatment you are looking for, as well as your age. And speaking of age, it’s worthwhile to start using this product around your late 20s, as this is the time that acne will have started to develop in most people.

An acne facial usually includes a cleansing process, massage, steam, and involves using a face mask. The facial works by getting rid of the outer layer of dull, dead skin cells that make up the skin’s shell or epidermis. They are also a big help in removing dirt and bacteria that can accumulate in the acne-prone areas and cause new blemishes to appear.

The massage is a very important part of many acne facials, just as it is with other kinds of facials in general. It’s useful because it helps blood circulation, which in turn helps lymphatic drainage—the elimination of waste and toxins from the body. Besides these things, acne facials are great at soothing and relaxing the muscles of the face, which is a pre-requisite for nice, healthy skin.

Finally, steam is used in acne facials to weaken whiteheads and blackhead for easy removal afterwards. The facemask is used because it helps to clarify and tone the skin. It can even help treat dry and acne-covered skin.

Those who suffer from acne are always desperate to get a cure. Many arrive at the doctor’s door after trying unsuccessfully to get rid of it through the traditional methods. The latter usually will prescribe some localized creams and a good deal of antibiotics. The most commonly prescribed antibiotics are tetracycline, erythromycin, doxycycline and so on. The downside of this treatment is that the antibiotics would have to be taken for about 3-4 weeks which is an awfully long period to be on antibiotics.

Are There Effective Alternatives To The Treatment Of Antibiotics For Acne?

Fortunately, yes – there are a good deal of alternatives out there which would not require you to be on this treatment of antibiotics for acne for an unending four weeks. I loose my appetite almost totally when I am on antibiotics – fortunately none of my treatments were longer than 5 days. I shudder to think what would happen to me if I have to continue with antibiotics for acne for four weeks. It would be a case where the cure killed the patient!

There are a number of herbal alternatives which will ensure that the treatment of antibiotics for acne will not be required. Most of these ingredients come from the shelves of your kitchen; hence it will hardly cost you anything to try it out.

1. Use 8:1 water-vinegar solution to wash the face and rinse it after 10-15 minutes. Repeat this twice a week or at least once a week. This will clear the bacteria that create inflammation and pain and it will also clean off the oiliness of the skin. This is a very good alternative to the treatment of antibiotics for acne.

2. Use ripe papaya paste to put on the face. This has an exfoliation effect plus all the benefits of the vinegar, i.e. it clears the oil from the face along with the dead skin.

3. Egg white – though the egg white is excellent as an instant face lift, it is also very effective for acne treatment. You will need to wash your face and apply the egg white for some 15-20 minutes and then wipe it off. This treatment applied regularly, will remove the acne without any trouble.

There are many more such treatments which work wonders with acne. Ensure that you check out all the alternatives before you decide on which one suits your acne attack. Take your time and search the best choice.

Home Remedies For Acne And Zits

Posted by: admin | Comments (14)

Many teenagers are all too aware of what Acne is, just incase you have forgotten, or just blocked the whole experience out of your memory, acne is an inflamed skin condition. It is so damaging for the lives of teenagers because it appears as hundreds of spots on their face, and also on upper body parts. This condition does not only affect teenagers however.

People think that the excess secretion of oils by the skin glands causes acne, which is actually an inflammation of the sebaceous glands and the follicles of the hair. Though almost everyone experiences some form of acne during some time of their life, acne varies in form, appearance and severity from person to person.

As we have already mentioned acne is caused by the excess secretion of oil. The hormone androgen is responsible for the amount of oil secreted by our body tissues, therefore the underlying reason for acne could be an excess of androgen. Acne is categorized into different types, Juvenile Acne, Acne Vulgarias, Chronic Acne, Pickers Acne, Cosmetic and fringe Acne, Body Acne and Back Acne.

Acne is not particularly threatening, it is just a skin disorder that normally clears up all by itself. Therefore it does not usually require any costly medical treatments. Most outbreaks of mild acne can be treated successfully by applying some remedies in the comfort of your own home:

First you need a good Acne Cleanser, Milk of Magnesia is one such product that is available on the market. This is one of the best known cleansers that helps clear up excess oil, hopefully resolving your acne problem. The solution should be applied to the affected area, and left for around 10 minutes, then it should be rinsed off with warm water. This procedure removes any excess oil from your skin and also unclogs the pores of your skin, normally relieving most forms of mild acne.

Then you should look at removing blackheads, blackheads and acne go hand in hand with one another. Removal of these black heads is a necessary step in the treatment of Acne and for this applying a product like Epsom salt could be considered. A teaspoon of Epsom salt is dissolved in some warm water, this makes a solution which should be amply applied to the affected areas using cotton wool. These solutions help in the easy removal of blackheads.

Lastly you should look at preventing any infections. Acne becomes inflamed, and very sensitive to the touch. It is very important to consider the inflammation, sensitivity and tenderness of the affected areas when treating acne at home. For this add 2 to 3 drops of Tr. of Benzion in a cup of cold water, this solution should then be applied to the affected area and rinsed off with cold water. This is a well known antibacterial solution and so this effectively prevents and cures any minor infections in the affected areas.

If your form of acne is serious then it is best to go to visit your doctor to get it sorted out. If you ever experience any discomfort when using any of these home remedies then it is important to stop using them and consult your doctor.

Skin Care Basics If You Have Acne

Posted by: admin | Comments (2)

Acne can be quite a bane for all concerned about their looks and appearance. This is typically a teenage skin problem even though the effects may be lasting for a long time after the teenage years have gone by. Though acne is often caused by factors beyond one’s control yet timely care and attention can ensure that the problem is kept under considerable check. Certain skin care basics are to be followed alongside adopting internal health care measures.

It is the effect of sebaceous glands in the skin which give rise to this condition. However, the root cause is the secretion of certain hormones in various proportions in an imbalanced manner. It may be noted that using harsh skin care products and skin dehydration can also cause acne or pimples or aggravate the situation. In order to control the situation by external measures these basic skin care measures can be advantageously taken:

- Exfoliation of the skin on a periodic basis is to be done which will help get rid of the dead cells blocking the pores in the skin. Thus the excessive oil secretion by sebaceous glands upon blockage of the pores which worsens the acne condition can be kept at bay.

- Harsh skin care products are to be shunned at all costs. These dry out the skin and cause the sebaceous glands to secrete more oil which makes the acne situation all the more worse. Instead, usage of a good quality non-oily moisturizer is highly recommended to prevent dehydration of the skin and keep it supple and soft.

- Following on a daily basis the regimen of cleansing, toning and moisturizing is the best means of taking care of the skin in an effort to treat acne situation and prevent occurrence of acne in acne prone skin. This is preferably to be done twice a day- in the morning before going out to work and in the evening after returning home and removing makeup. This will also help counter a host of other problems of the skin like pimples etc.

Some mild (herbal based or other) cleanser will be the best suited. The toner or astringent and moisturizers should also be preferably mild preparations so as to prevent the risk of producing any harsh effect on the skin. The work of the toner or astringent will be to tighten the skin and contract the pores so that oil secretion is suppressed and acne, pimples and the like are checked.

How To Treat Acne During Pregnancy?

Posted by: admin | Comments (8)

If a drug for a particular type of disease causes side effects, what does it mean? It simply means in the process of treating one disease, it creates several new diseases. Do you call it a helpful medicine then? Can it be categorized as a treatment? Such is a dilemma when taking medication during the pregnancy.

One popular and effective acne treatment consists of Isotretinoin. If you have severe acne, and your acne does not respond to other therapies, Isotretinoin is certainly the pill to be prescribed.

The medication is bound to give you favorable results as far as acne is concerned. But then breaking of certain side effects can not be ruled out. Isotretinoin is a retinoid which is derived from vitamin A. The medicine is rated as the best acne medication till date.

It is highly effective on acne but is never recommended to pregnant women. The pill is capable of causing birth defects to the fetus. Be in touch with your doctor regularly, in case you are married and the pill is prescribed to you. Discuss about your pregnancy with your doctor. You look good even with your acne, but do you wish to be blessed with a child with birth defects? No one would want it.

When looking at the acne treatment options for pregnant women, the grave side effects of Isotretinoin outweigh the merits. The side effects make a horrible reading and any pregnant woman would not like the mention of the names of such diseases.

You better advise any pregnant woman not to go for acne treatment having farthest connection to Isotretinoin. The side effects against which you are warned are thinning of hair, red itchy eyes, dry skin and dry nose. You may even face depression, nausea or vomiting. When you are under the treatment of this drug, there are several do’s and don’ts about which you need to take absolute care in consultation with your doctor.

As a woman, you need to test yourself for pregnancy, before you begin the Isotretinoin treatment. You need to tell the doctor if you plan to become pregnant or breast feed the child in the near future. You are supposed to stop taking this drug, if in the course of treatment you become pregnant. You are even advised to adopt two unfailing methods of birth control before you begin the treatment of this medicine.

Hormonal changes are normal during pregnancy which may result in acne inflammation. You may have the best skin and yet during your first trimester, you may receive severe acne attack. As the pregnancy advances, acne begins to heal itself and you may have better skin glow.

Though, this is certainly not to advise you to sit quiet about your acne during the pregnancy. Better avoid oral medications. You have a growing fetus within you. You can’t take any risks in such a delicate condition. Try topical medications like Azelic acid or the trusted benzoyl peroxide.
