Acne is major problem all over the world. Including UK, 80% of population of every country affected by this skin condition once in their life. If it is severe then it could cause depression in sufferers. There are many treatment options available for acne. Over the counter products, prescription medications and other skin therapies are designed to cure this problem. Every treatment does not work for everyone. Some people get rid of it by using over the counter products, some got their acne cured by taking prescription medicines and some could not get cured their acne even they try each and every treatment.

Acne is a hormonal problem and needs a proper treatment. If it is left untreated then it can get worse and becomes more depressing. Try all those treatments that treat real cause of acne. Many treatments are designed to disappear acne spots, they are temporary treatments and when you stop taking these treatments, acne appears again. Acne can not be cured completely until or unless you target a main cause behind it.

Dermatologist’s advice is very necessary before starting any treatment. They prescribe you treatments according to the severity of acne and skin type. Much treatment needs continuous monitoring to observe side effects and effectiveness of treatment. Following are some major treatment options which are very affective.

Over the counter products:
Benzoyl peroxide is very effective treatment for treating acne. It is available as a main ingredient in many over the counter products in different concentrations. Your health advisor can guide you of whom concentration is affective for your skin type and severity. Salicylic acid is another best option to cure acne. Don’t use both products with each other.

Prescription medications:
Dermatologists prescribe you Retinoid for treating acne. These Retiniods try to balance your hormones and reduce redness. Retiniods are available with different brand names. Most affective retinoid for sever acne is Isotretinion (Accutane). But like every synthetic medicines, these medicines have some side effects as well. If these treatments do not work then dermatologist prescribe contraceptives, they regulate hormones in a body which cause acne.

Other options of acne treatment:
Other surgical and non surgical treatment options are dermabrasion, micro dermabrasion, laser treatment and skin peeling. These treatments are bit expensive and needs more then one sitting. Their effectiveness depends on skin condition and severity of acne.

All these treatment options are easily available in UK. Every hospital have dermatologist who have all facilities to cure acne.

    Acne treatment?
I’ve heard Accutane is the closest to a cure for acne. My acne isn’t severe enough for accutane, but its quite bad and I feel I need something powerful and effective.

What is the next strongest/effective treatment after accutane?

I have mild acne ( papules, pustules, blackheads, brown and red marks) and since I’ve been using this treatment, I haven’t broken out even once:

    –Morning–
    Cleanse- Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser
Massage onto dry face for 20 seconds and rinse
    Moisturize- Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream
Apply a very smal amount to face. Avoid eye area. DO NOT apply the cream on T-zone if you have oily skin.

    –Night–
    Cleanse- Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser
Massage onto dry face for 20 seconds and rinse
    Exfoliate- Baking soda mask
Mix 1/2 a tablespoon of baking soda with a couple of drops of water to make a paste. VERY gently massage onto face for no more than 20 seconds and rinse off.
    Tone- Apple Cider Vinegar Mask
1 teaspoon of Apple Cider Vinegar and 5 teaspoons of water.
Apply to face with a cotton ball and rinse off after 10 minutes.
Note: Always dilute the ACV in water.
    Protein Mask- Eggwhite Mask
1 egg white or a table spoon of egg whites that come in a carton.
    Add five drops of lemon.
    Mix until frotty.
Apply to face and leave on for 10 minutes.
    Rinse off.
    Medicate- Clean & Clear Persa-Gel 10
Apply a small amount on problem areas.
    Moisturize- Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream
Apply a very smal amount to face. Avoid eye area. DO NOT apply the cream on T-zone if you have oily skin.

If you don’t have red or brown marks from acne, then you can skin the whole exfoliate, tone, and protein mask part. You should only exfoliate once or twice a week otherwise.

I know it’s ALOT of work, but if you do it Iguarantee you you’ll be acne free.

You should also take a zinc supplement, but you must take it on a full stomach or you;ll get sick.

Acne : Home Remedies suggested by users
    All-fruit Acne diet
To begin with, the patient should take only an ‘all-fruit’ diet for a week, taking three meals a day, of fresh juicy fruits, such as apples, pears, grapes, grapefruit, pineapples, and peaches. Only unsweetened lemon or plain water, either hot or cold, should be drunk and nothing else.

Further short periods of the ‘all-fruit’ diet for three days or so may be necessary at a monthly interval till the skin’s condition improves.

Avoid strong tea/coffee, soft drinks and processed foods
Meats, sugar, strong tea or coffee, condiments, pickles, soft drinks, candies, ice cream, refined and processed foods should be avoided as far as possible.

    Other Acne natural treatments
    Warm-water enema
During the initial one week ‘all-fruit’ diet, a warm-water enema taken daily cleanses the bowels. Apply hot fomentation locally to open up the pores and to bring out the waste matter. Then rinse the affected parts with cold water.

    Hot Epsom salts bath
A hot Epsom salts bath twice a week is beneficial in all cases of acne. This bath is prepared by adding 1 ½ kg of Epsom salts to 60 litres of water having a temperature of about 37.8° C. The patient should remain in the bath tub for 25-35 minutes till he sweats freely. After the bath, the patient should cool off gradually.
